Designers Brand Products Too!

If you have always thought of promotional products as cheap tchotchkis, think again! While tweeting for a client, I recently came across an interesting article: The 12 Oddest Designer Branded Products. It’s well-known that many designers enjoy being the name and face of a brand, but who would have thought that they would sponsor products like these…?

This Marc Jacobs branded tape measure retails for close to fifty dollars. The high priced item reads “Standard Supple” and is classified as “Type: Workwear.” I’m not sure that I would categorize the faux-croc, designer brand tape measure as being “workwear”!

Following the same sportswear trend, designer brand Chanel recently released an entire line of sporting goods ranging from snowboards and tennis rackets, to a fishing set and fishing rod. So, if you are the outdoorsy type, but also enjoy sporting designer gear, this Chanel line is perfect for you!

One of the most bizarre products that I stumbled upon was a pair of Gucci 3D glasses. As a society, are we really so concerned with our appearance that we will pay hundreds of dollars for a pair of glasses just to be worn in a dark movie theater?!?!

The remaining designer items that were featured in this article include: tea made by Prada, band-aids by Cynthia Rowley, a Christian Siriano line of O-Celo kitchen sponges, a collaboration between Gaultier and Evian bottled water, and Louis Vuitton trash bags (determined to be a hoax, but I do love the thought that some very wealthy bored housewives include this on their shopping lists!
