Don’t Forget March is American Red Cross Month!

Don’t forget March is American Red Cross Month. I know it’s only the end of January, but this is the perfect time to plan. Plus ordering early will guarantee you stock in the products you want, avoid any rush charges, and get the promotion in your hands on-time!

In light of recent world events, we all know the Red Cross does great things, from organizing blood drives to providing shelter, food, and emotional support to victims of disasters. You can help give back to communities affected by tragedy by organizing outreach programs to raise donations for the Red Cross. Or Give back to your local community by volunteering at a local shelter, hospital, or school. You can buy promotional products to get the word out about your event, thank volunteers for their time, or provide comfort to those receiving care.

T-shirts or sweatshirts make great giveaways at volunteering events. They can be worn during an event to distinguish participants or given out after to thank volunteers for their support. Decorated apparel is one of the most popular and well-received promotional marketing products. And don’t forget 79% of people hold onto a t-shirt for sentimental reasons. Many people who volunteer or participate in charity or reliefs efforts have an emotional connection to the cause.

Other well-received give-a-way ideas at volunteer/charity events: key chains, pins, bracelets, water bottles, towels, or hats.

T-shirt Weights & Blends

T-shirt weights range from the very light (5.3-oz) to a more standard (5.5-oz) on up to the perceived value of a heavier (6.1-oz to 7.1-oz) shirt. The weight you choose can depend on a few factors, such as: budget (the lighter the weight, the cheaper the t-shirt) or use (will the intended recipient wear the shirt to lounge or work-out?)

T-shirts have come a long way from something only men wore under dress shirts. Companies like American Apparel have made the tried and true t-shirt a wardrobe essential. Long gone are the days of boxy t-shirts that were only worn at the gym. T-shirts are now designed with fit and fashion in-mind, making t-shirts (a more popular) than ever give-a-way.

Not only are t-shirt feel and pricing affected by weight, but also the fabric content. Traditionally, the biggest question concerning t-shirts is “100% cotton or poly/cotton blend?” Cotton tees are usually associated with sports because they hold up well through dozens of washings and wearing. But poly/cotton blends have also long been popular for their durability and they do tend to have better fade and shrink resistance (when compared with 100% cotton t-shirts that are not pre-washed).

So, if considering giving away t-shirts at your next event give us a call and we’ll help you find the right fit, fabric, and decoration for your custom t-shirts!

Social Media, A Choice

I, as most advertising and marketing professionals have been reading tons of social media articles every day. One common theme that I’m seeing is hesitation to participate because social media is perceived as “too intrusive.” Well, all you non-participators out there, here’s the thing about social media - you only share what you want. Social media is a choice. You choose what information you want to share and what information you want to engage in. Maybe many non-social media users are under the impression only narcissists engage on Twitter and Facebook. Not the case. You don’t need to update your status with your every move or thought. Nor do you need to post a picture of what you’ve having for lunch (FYI-to those who do-no one cares what you’re eating!) Use social media to keep in touch with family and friends or use it to follow store sales or dinner specials at your favorite restaurants. Learn more about a company by subscribing to their RSS feed. Or check out a business’ rating on Yelp before you work or buy from them.

Social media is lending a voice to consumers like no other outlet ever before. For example, let’s say you recently bought a pair of shoes from company XYZ which you are really disappointed with. Instead of writing an email or letter to XYZ’s customer service department, you can post your dissatisfaction on one of their social media sites or you can rate them on Yelp. Chances are XYZ will react differently or more proactively to your complaint since you’re now voicing it so other customers can hear it. Now, I’m not saying only use social media to complain-please, please don’t just use it to rant. Its just as easy to post a positive note or tweet about a company’s product or service- you never know-maybe they will offer you a discount on your next purchase for your kind words!

Whether you’re on board or not, social media is here to stay- so come on, start participating!
