Twitter Revolution

Twitter – another way to accumulate stalkers, uh, I mean…followers. At least they can only stalk you 140 characters at a time! All joking aside, I have actually grown quite fond of Twitter. It’s great for lazy web surfers. Follow newspapers, stores, companies, restaurants, and get access to information that interests you.

Twitter has also become one of best social media outlets out there. Why? Well, for starters, it’s free. Plus, (I think) it’s just so much easier to use than Facebook. Just because you’re a fan or friend of a person or a business on Facebook doesn’t mean you’re going to visit their page often, if at all. If you’re following someone on Twitter, every time you log-on, their most recent tweets pop up. And perhaps my favorite part of Twitter – if someone is following you, you don’t have to follow them back, especially if you’re not interested in what they’re tweeting about.

I haven’t mastered many Twitter tricks yet; I’m a little shaky on using RT, @, and #. I’m still getting the hang of TweetDeck, Thwirl, and TwitterBerry. I like TwitterBerry the best. It’s the most convenient and doesn’t make any sound. Fellow TweetDeck and Twirl users will understand. Is there a way to turn off the sound alerts without muting your computer? If so, please let me know – the alerts are way too distracting!

My advice – if you don’t have a Twitter account, get one soon so you don’t miss out on the Twitter Revolution. But just a warning, you may feel overloaded with information in the first few days. Never fear! With a little patience and some time, you’ll get the hang of it. If you’re already on Twitter (and you’re interested) in what Quintain Marketing is doing, follow us @Quintain!
