What Is Your “Call to Action?”

Call to ActionThe “call to action” is one of the most important concepts in marketing and promotion. Simply put, after you’ve established that you have something of value to offer and that you’re the perfect choice to deliver it, you want to ask your prospect to take the next step. You deliver a “call to action.” You’ve probably seen calls to action several times a day:

  • Present coupon for a free refill
  • Call us today to learn more
  • Visit our website to redeem your savings

Why are calls to action so popular in the marketing world? Put simply, they work. Good marketing convinces people about the value of a brand, and a call to action capitalizes on this goodwill by asking people to do something – buy a product, subscribe to a service, etc.

The most effective calls to action are simple and direct, and don’t offer the audience any options. For example, “Call us today to order your catalog” is more effective than “call us or visit our website to order our catalog.” So keep it simple, keep it direct, and remain loyal to your brand, and you’ll be surprised how effective a call to action can be as part of your marketing programs.
